South Sudan has participated in the third East Africa Art Connect Exhibition that was held in Kampala from October 14th – 30th and five (5) artists from South Sudan has been invited to the exhibition each of them had two (2) paintings and they were sponsored by Hope Society. And their names are:
- Akot Deng Agoth
- Bol Manas Wal
- Deng Majid Chol
- James Aguer Garang
- Suleiman Ahmed Morgan
Two (2) made to Kampala (Deng Majid and James Aguer) and stayed there for one week and then went back to the country. Works that were displayed in the exhibition told many different stories in the region, and of course the South Sudanese ones talked about beauty, culture, nature, imagination and of course peace!
This exhibition is the third one of its kind in the region and South Sudan participated for first time. Other countries were Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, D.R. Congo, Ethiopia and Burundi.
It was important for artists to connect with other artists outside the country for it helps a lot! Especially in exchanging ideas, techniques and ways of thinking and how art can be a major element in changing the society by bringing it to the community.
